2020 Christmas Ornaments
The first ever Carrot Top Studio Art ornament collection will launch on Small Business Saturday, November 28, 2020! It was a joy to create these little gems. Scroll to the end of the progress photo journal to read about the symbolism.
First step was applying a layer of turquoise to the paper mache round ornament base.
A layer of copper paint and the ornaments are already starting to sing!

Many layers of paint with drying time between each layer meant the creating was enjoyed for many days.
A pretty cap was attached.
A bit of gloss was sprayed on. This will protect the paint but also — who doesn’t like a little bit of shine?
Using recycled or repurposed items is important to my commitment to sustainability at Carrot Top Studio. And this amazing ribbon is a great example of that. It’s made from previously owned silk saris. The color and texture is just amazing.
The ornaments are ready! They will be a meaningful addition to your gifting or your own home this holiday season. Each ornament comes with a card describing this symbolism—
The colors: pink and orange for joy and happiness, red for The Passion of Jesus, gold for God and divinity, blue for truth and green for hope.
The imagery: circles for God’s everlasting love, a square for earthly existence, a laurel branch because it was once believed to protect against disease but is now a symbol of victory, and a spiral for growth and transformation.
Colors and symbols in art have historical significance but also have other meanings. But personal interpretation is encouraged!
