I’ve been interested in labyrinths since I walked one in the 1990’s at a Presbyterian Women national gathering in Louisville, KY. It was a powerful experience. In fact, it moved me to tears! Now when traveling I like to seek out labyrinths in new and different places. You never know where you’ll find them.

My daughter and I were exploring a neighborhood near her Wilmington, DE home. We stumbled upon the art museum which was closed due to Covid. Settling for a walk through the lovely sculpture garden look what we found on the edge of the property! This beautiful labyrinth was built in a former reservoir by a group of dedicated volunteers. Isn’t the setting lovely?

Despite this still with my eyes closed it was a great joy to be able to teach a workshop recently for Kirk in the Hills Church in Bloomfield Hills, MI. During Lent they traditionally explore the connection between faith and art through an art exhibit, Children’s Church, and the adult education hour. My workshop explored a bit of history, a lesson on how to draw a simple finger labyrinth (young and old can do it!), and practical ways to use a finger labyrinth. I hope the March 8th participants and those that watch the video connect with the labyrinth as a spiritual tool. If you know of someone this might resonate with please share this link.

And here’s my dream labyrinth walk. Someday I hope to travel to France and appreciate and use this labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral. In the meantime, while we wrap up this pandemic (!) a paper or fabric labyrinth will suffice.. We can do this!
