Previously posted September 23, 2019 — If you follow us on Instagram you probably saw bits and pieces of our recent trip to Chicago. We had two goals for this trip:
Visit museums we had not been to before
Sketch onsite throughout each day.
We shared about the museums in this blog post.
Sketching before we’ve left our hometown!
A healthy start to day one …. getting used to sketching in public.
Taking a break from visiting the National Mexican Museum of Art. Can’t go wrong with coffee and Mexican pastry!
Visit Chicago’s neighborhood of Pilsen and have the best tacos EVER at this restaurant!
Experimenting with sketching a complicated scene in a simple geometric version. Love that green river!
A warm and humid day reminder.
The start of a new day — I drink plain black coffee in the studio but on the road a cappuccino is a real treat. This cup rejuvenated me and let me ponder what I’d seen int the “resurrection’ exhibit at the contemporary art museum.
An organ recital inspired this sketch! The organ at 4th Pres. has a sound that really fills the space!
Playing with a drawing that looks through glass while enjoying lunch at Eataly.
You never know where you’ll find inspiration! This was a reflection in the glass building outside our hotel window and it easily could be translated into a quilt design. Stay tuned!
