Beach dreams

Is it true? We want what we don’t have. For example, I had straight hair in high school and college but could only see curly hair's beauty. Today I shudder at the thought of the money I spent on perms! Today living in Michigan our winters are long, cold and often very snowy. The beauty of the bright blue sky on a day when the ice is clinging to the trees and the snow is clean and white is very real. Yet, I’ve come to the age that the cold is a bit too long.

For a few years now I’ve desired an escape. Because the world is more work remotely friendly today my husband and I took off in February for three weeks. These weeks of traveling and residing in the sun, listening to the sound of the waves, and living a simple life resulted in a body of art that reflects coastal life.

Watching the sandpipers run on the beach, collecting sand dollars and thinking about the legend connected with them, and appreciating the marine life that we could (and couldn’t) see set me to work making digital drawings. These have been turned into several different sets of note cards. I hope they elevate your letter writing and bring a smile to the face of those you mail to.

Attention to detail has been important to the work of Carrot Top Studio from the beginning. The above card is a good example of that. Having the artwork on the front just wasn’t enough! Don’t you love the busy little sandpipers on the back too?

A handwritten letter is such a gift of time and thought in today’s busy, busy electronic world. Thank you for choosing Carrot Top Studio note cards for your snail mail, or to give as hostess gifts, teacher gifts, Mother’s day gifts, and more. Your support is very special to me.
