Ordinary Time Stoles - Artistic and Unique

It’s a joy to create for Ordinary Time! The breadth and depth of the inspiration from the scriptures is never ending. I’d like to share a little bit of insight to the hows and why of what has recently been created. This post features just a few of the Carrot Top Studio green stole collection.

Celtic Circle stole

I love taking the traditional and giving it a contemporary twist! That is how the Celtic circles were devised for this stole. Simplified, deconstructed and then put back together creates this dynamic cross and circle design.

Psalm 24:1 stole

For a season I focused all my art on trees while also working through the book Reforesting Faith by Matthew Sleeth, MD. The stole was then inspired by Psalm 24:1

The earth is the Lord’s

and everything in it.

This scripture that teaches us to love God, the creator. We are tenants of this earth and the tree imagery on this green clergy stole reminds us that we are to respect that. This is a beautiful stole for Ordinary Time, the season of Creation or for an Earth Day celebration and more!

Children’s Ministry stole

Do you minister to children (young or old?) This stole design was created with children in mind! It’s fun, vibrant and full of sweet graphics and Bible verses. It’s cream colored base and color palette is warm and welcoming! Perfect for welcoming all as part of the Kingdom! And don’t you love the textured yarn details?

Rose stole

I’m drawn to vintage fabrics! And the vintage embroidered roses were the inspiration for this stole. It’s a nod to those who have gone before us — particularly the women. It was most likely a women who embroidered these roses. Additionally in Christian symbolism a rose is often used for Mary, mother of Jesus.

The Flying Geese stole

It was fun to use my quilt piecing skills when creating this design.! This green stole is a reminder of the many lessons we can learn from geese. For example, by flying as a group they create uplift which gives them greater range than if they were flying alone. Secondly when the lead goose gets tired it rotates to the back flock. Also the geese in the back honk to encourage those in front. And lastly when one goose needs to drop out tow others go with it until they can all catch back up with the flock. This all seems to translate well to Christians being taught two are better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12), that God will always provide us leadership (John 3:30), that encouragement is a good thing (Exodus 17:8-13) and that we are to care for each other (Hebrews 2:10-13).

Thanks for reading to the end of this post! Just a reminder that the work at Carrot Top Studio is created in limited editions (small batches) and the inventory can change frequently. If you need to think about a purchase email us to inquire about putting a particular stole on hold.
