Life's Too Short, Eat the Carrot Cake: Embracing 20 Years of Business Pivots and Opportunities

In the delightful journey of Carrot Top Studio spanning two decades, there’s a delicious lesson we've learned: life's too short to pass up on opportunities, much like how one shouldn't skip a slice of carrot cake! As we celebrate our 20-year anniversary, let's reflect on the twists, turns, and sweet rewards that come from embracing change and seizing every chance that comes our way.

Opportunities in Every Bite: Much like the layers of flavor in a perfectly baked carrot cake, opportunities come in various forms. Whether it's exploring new artistic mediums, collaborating with fellow creatives, or venturing into licensing our art, every opportunity has added a unique sweetness to our journey.

Lessons Learned: Through the years, we've gathered a basketful of lessons, much like harvesting carrots from a garden:

  • Flexibility: Just as a recipe can evolve, so can our business model. Flexibility allows us to adapt and grow. We were originally opposed to one of a kind commissions but they have been a source of joy over the years. What an honor to create these special requests!

  • Creativity: Like experimenting with ingredients, creativity fuels innovation and keeps our offerings fresh and exciting. Using new supplies, like learning to paint on fabric, and staying up with advances in technology, such as learning to draw in Procreate, has helped us sustain for twenty years.

  • Resilience: Every setback is a chance to rise stronger, much like a cake that doesn't rise perfectly but is still delicious. It’s not always perfect but as I’d encourage my students while teaching I try not to start over, but to look at a ‘mistake’ and think about what can come of it.

In the grand recipe of life and business, remember: life's too short, eat the carrot cake, embrace change, savor opportunities, and never forget to enjoy the sweet moments along the way. Here's to another 20 years of creativity, growth, and delicious adventures!
