The 2021 Lenten clergy stole collections

What makes our purple stoles for Lent unique? It’s the details. It’s the visual connection to the story that we recall each year s we walk together toward the joy of Easter.

The “Into the Wilderness” stole features hand painted trees and a cross. These delicate yet rugged visuals are enhanced with free motion stitching using variegated threads. Free motion stitching is a bit unconventional but a wonderful technique that allow you to “draw” on the fabric with the thread. Did you catch the video of this in our Instagram stories?

The “Journey stole” is a wealth of visual intrigue. The technique of piecing and then layering with exposed raw edges is the perfect effect to relate to the roughness of what Jesus walked through for us. This stole is one of a kind!

The hand embroidery details on this stole are quite unique but we love this kind of attention to detail! Don’t you?

This stole visually speaks to Matthew 11:28-39as an invitation to remember the life of Christ but also to look at ourselves. It is also a response to the T.S. Elliott poem “Ash Wednesday.”

Teach us to care and not to care

Teach us to sit still

Even among these rocks

Our peace in His will.
